This is a 6.5 x 10 inch piece of artwork I created for the Montgomery County, MD Women's 3.0 tennis team to take as their state gift for competitors in Tucson, AZ at the USTA Adult 3.0 National Championship in Oct '09. Drawings are done with watercolor pencils and the Bay Bridge is a photo I took and digitally altered.
Maryland items: Black-Eyed Susans in the tennis rackets, Maryland flag tennis balls and MD flag on handle of MD rackets, the shape of the state of Maryland, the Baltimore Oriole and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
The cactus represents Tucson, where the championship was held. The No. Calif. racket has the sun, water and palm trees, as well as a red star (from their flag) on the handle. The CT racket has a lighthouse and the grapes (from their flag) on the handle. PA has their state colors as they appear on their license plate.

I am a strong believer in the power of self-acknowledgment. We all have To-Do lists and are more than aware of all the things we have not done or perhaps did not do well enough. I believe that taking the time to regularly acknowledge ourselves for the things we did well, even the smallest of them, is a positive and empowering habit.
I create these special self-acknowledgment journals for anyone looking to take up this powerful habit. Except for the refurbished smaller wire-bound journals, my journals are each made from recycled book covers. I use a mixed-media approach to decorate them and each journal is unique. The pages are tied together with ribbon so you can easily add more pages or take them out and start all over!
